A Tale of Little Travelers

Two new friends arrived recently — both with stories stitched into their seams, and both already settling beautifully into their new home here in Arizona.

🌸 Lou‑Lou, the Little Crocheted Pig With a Big Heart

Lou‑Lou came to me with a tender history. She was lovingly crocheted by a woman for her dear friend in the hospital. Sadly, Lou-Lou ended up going back home with her creator but Lou‑Lou’s presence became too bittersweet for her maker to bear. She reminded her too much of someone she loved and lost.

I want that friend — wherever she may be — to know this: Lou‑Lou is bringing so much joy into my home. She reminds me daily to hold my loved ones close in memory, and she makes me smile every time I see her. I hug her often and tell her she’s welcome to remember her friends in England while she’s here with me.

I even bought her a tiny vase of tulips, just her size. She sits in a place of honor now, where she can brighten my day every time I walk by. Lou‑Lou will be cherished, always.

🧸 Rollo, the Quiet Teddy With a Brave Little Soul

Then there’s Rollo — a teddy bear who had been waiting far too long for someone to adopt him. I couldn’t stand the thought of him being overlooked any longer, so I brought him home to America.

His journey here was… dramatic. The box he traveled in had been sliced open with a knife, and when I unwrapped him and the tiny rabbit traveling with him — Rosie — they were both trembling from the ordeal. Rollo barely spoke at first. He told me he was hungry, but by the time I returned with food, he had fallen fast asleep on the sofa, exhausted.

While I was at work last night, he must have explored a bit, because this morning I found him perched proudly on the back of my Moose footstool, clearly enjoying the ride. I gave him a Gryffindor beanie to help him feel safe — and I think it’s working. He’s still quiet, but I can see him slowly coming out of his shell.

Rollo lives in Arizona now, and he’s already dreaming of trips to the Grand Canyon and all the adventures waiting for him in the desert.
