Our New Life

Liliana and I found each other by chance last Saturday afternoon. She was sitting quietly in Selfridges as I was walking through trying to escape the shopping chaos. I didn't see her at first because she was at the back of the 'Loved Before' display stand. As I walked around it, looking at all the hopeful faces I saw hers and heard the tiniest whisper of a wish, asking and hoping, "Please pick me, please pick me". I heard her little heart's hopes and dreams for new adventures, her wish to be loved again and I knew she was meant to start her new journey with me. Liliana is a nervous little soul but she's slowly starting to settle in and to hopefully know that she's already very loved.

Liliana was a little bit shy and nervous when we got home and didn't really feel like getting straight out of her safe little box. I explained to her that she was home now and had a new exciting life to look forward to but that it was ok to be scared. I kept checking on her as she explored, after all, it was a big new world for a tiny bear.

It wasn't too long before Liliana felt brave enough to climb out of her box and I found her (only just!) watching her new world go by behind the safety of a big fern.

Soon she felt brave enough to have a tiny peek through the window.... from behind the safety of the blinds of course!

Liliana was getting braver and as she wiggled up from her hiding place behind a cushion whispered in my ear that she would like to see more of the big world outside her new home...

She needed a little booster seat but once she was up on it, she stayed for a while staring outside, watching the leaves blowing on the trees, the grey clouds rushing by and the birds gliding up and down on the currents in the wind.

Feeling a bit braver, Liliana found her way downstairs, climbed onto the bookshelf and made a new friend!

It also seems that little Liliana shares my love of books. I can't wait for us to snuggle up together and read!

Liliana has been here for just over 5 days and has already had some big adventures for a tiny bear. I'm sure there are plenty more to come and I can't wait to share them with her.
